The village of Llangwnnadl itself is situated on the old Pen y graig farm where Siop Pen y graig was established. The Siop was at one time amongst the most important shops in the country, selling the latest fashions and attracting customers from afar. The family that kept the shop became famous for their medical preparation that cured skin cancer. Owen Griffiths Gravestone can be seen in the graveyard of the Church.
